Emily Jameson is a young artist who makes both reborn and hand sculpted baby dolls under the name Caelesta Infantia Nursery. Here is her bio in her own words taken from her website:
"My name is Emily Jameson and I am 18 years old. I first found reborns when browsing eBay for Lee Middleton dolls one day. I loved how realistic they were and I knew I had to have one. I soon found an artist to create a reborn for me and in mid 2003, I had my first reborn doll. Being the creative person I am, I decided to try to make reborns for myself. So in 2004, the adventure began! I then discovered the Simply Reborn online reborning classes (www.simplyreborn.ltd.uk). Because of the classes and the great help there, I improved my reborning skills. By 2005, I had discovered hand-sculpted baby dolls. I found an online class and tutorials, so I thought, "Why not try it?". My first OOAK babies certainly did not look like babies! More like aliens really! But I was encouraged to keep going from my friends on an online forum. Through the KC Doll Fair, I discovered MCODA (www.mcoda.org), a local doll club with artists who enjoy sculpting dolls as well. One member there was especially encouraging and referred me to take sculpting classes from Kwan Wu, a world renowned bronze sculptor and oil painter from China, now living locally. Since taking classes with him, my sculpture work has greatly improved. Kwan Wu has now retired from teaching and I thank him for the time I was able to spend, soaking up his knowledge. That's about it, and leaves me here where I am today! I have now had 3+ years of sculpting experience and 4+ years of reborning experience. Although I will continue in both art forms, I must say that I like sculpting a bit more. Being the perfectionist that I am, I like being able to create a doll with just the look I want. I like reborning, because with reborns you are free to use more realistic painting and hair applying methods, and because it is the only way I am able to afford other sculpture artists' work. I have tried many other art forms and some of my other interests include: crocheting, sewing, beading, drawing and photography. I have also studied under a local sketch and watercolor artist, Mrs. Ozarzack, which has also helped me a lot with my artworks."
Emily's work has been displayed in Images, a local art gallery, and has been featured in the two well known doll magazines, Doll Reader and Life Like Dolls. Emily is a current member of MCODA (www.mcoda.org), Simply Reborn (www.simplyreborn.ltd.uk) and The Reborn Baby Dolls Safe Seller Index (www.grandmothersattic.net/safe_sellers_index.html). From time to time, you can find Emily's dolls available through Ebay using the ID emma*laurel, or through her website, www.freewebs.com/babies-by-emily. Emily can be reached by emailing, emilysbabies@yahoo.com. Unfortunately, because of the time involved, Emily is not currently taking commissions for her baby sculptures, but reborn commissions are welcome.
